Franz Beckenbauer

German football legend Franz Beckenbauer was renowned for his elegant sweeper role, reading the game from behind the defence and stepping forward to create attacks. Known as “Der Kaiser”, he captained West Germany to World Cup victory in 1974 and led them to the title as manager in 1990.
