Frequently Asked Questions
What temperature are these glass containers oven safe to?
The borosilicate glass base is oven safe up to 300Β°C (570Β°F), which is hotter than most domestic ovens reach, so you can bake, roast and reheat in them. Always take the lid off first, as the BPA-free lid is not oven safe at any temperature.
Can I take these straight from the freezer to the microwave or oven?
Yes β the borosilicate glass base is thermal-shock resistant, and going from the freezer straight into the microwave is fine. For the oven we recommend thawing first and avoiding a blast of heat from a fully preheated oven, simply because a gradual temperature change is gentler on any glass over years of use. Always take the lid off before microwaving or baking.
Are the lids dishwasher, oven and microwave safe?
The lids arenβt oven or microwave safe, so always take them off before heating. For the longest life, we recommend hand washing the lids in warm soapy water so the silicone seal keeps its grip over time. The glass base is oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe.
What sizes are in the 10-pack, and what actually fits in them?
You get five 1040ml (36oz) containers measuring 19.5 x 14.5 x 6cm, and five 370ml (13oz) containers measuring 14.5 x 10.5 x 4.3cm. The 1040ml size holds a full adult main β a curry and rice, or a pasta bake. The 370ml size suits sides, snacks, overnight oats or a child's portion.
Will they leak in a bag?
No β each lid has a silicone seal and hinged clips that lock down on all sides, which holds soups, sauces and dressings without drips on a commute. Press every clip fully closed before packing, as a partly latched lid is the usual cause of a leak.
Do the lids from the two sizes fit each other?
No β the 1040ml and 370ml containers each take their own lid, so keep each lid stored with its matching base. We sell both sizes separately if you need a spare: replacement 1040ml lids and replacement 370ml lids.
Can I buy a replacement lid or glass base on its own?
Yes β you can replace a single part rather than buying a whole new set. We stock 1040ml lids and 370ml lids in packs of five, plus single glass bases in 1040ml and 370ml.
Can I freeze liquids like soup in them?
Yes, but leave roughly 2cm of space at the top, because liquid expands as it freezes and a container filled to the rim can crack. Let soups and stews cool to room temperature before they go in the freezer, and clip the lid down once cooled.
How do I get curry stains and smells out of the containers and lids?
Make a paste of bicarbonate of soda and a little water, spread it over the stained area, and leave it for a few hours before washing as normal. Tomato and curry pigments cling to the silicone seal more than to the glass, so work the paste into the seal groove too. Drying the lids fully before stacking stops smells building up between uses.
Are they safe for food, and what are they made of?
Yes β the glass base is borosilicate glass that is LFGB-certified and exceeds FDA standards, and the lids are BPA-free. There is no plastic in contact with hot food when you reheat, because the lid comes off first.
What does the 2-year warranty cover, and how do I claim?
The warranty covers manufacturing defects for two years on every Good For You product, wherever you bought it. It does not cover drops, impact damage, or cracking caused by a sudden extreme temperature change. To claim, email us with your order number and a photo of the damaged item, and we will arrange a replacement.
